Books_Riley_Sager

By chance and happenstance I came across Riley Sager. Four audiobooks:

  • Final Girl
  • Lock Every Door
  • Home Before Dark
  • Last Time I Lied

So far I’ve listened to Final Girl and Home Before Dark.

Both books are about people victimized twice: first from the actual occurence.. then by media (and by consequence: people who read and listen to media). In both books the main character returns.. reluctantly to a time and a trauma from the past.

The books have a plot. There are twists. The tempo is semi-high. Characters are more than just hastily carved out.. but maybe not more than that.

I don’t care about ’endings’. I don’t even care about ‘goings on’. So if I fall asleep and miss an hour or so.. or if the book ended and I didn’t get the ‘resolve’-part .. it doesn’t matter. It’s just gone.

I can still tell: the author is no fool. He knows what he’s doing.

Home Before Dark is the consequence of a ghost story.
Final Girl is the aftermath of a horror movie.
